I quickly read through stuff yesterday but took a bit more time this morning to read the news article and posts in regards to a recent concert by Wintley Phipps. I am certain that Robert is behind this attack on Wintley Phipps , but using SDAminister to do his biding. If you read the article and read the accusations in the original post by SDAm there is classic recasting of the facts and events - and significant omissions to create a perception of "wrong-doing." Here is a review:

With great regret that I am constrained to share the following info with the Advent Talk forum.

This past weekend in Minnesota, Wintley Phipps held two concerts to support his organization the U.S. Dream Academy.

A few things to note about Elder Phipps and this weekend:

-He is a member of Three Angels Broadcasting Network Board of Directors
-He is an ordained Seventh-day Adventist minister of the Southeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists where he pastors the Palm Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church.
-He took a commercial flight to his destination on the Sabbath
-His concerts were at 7:00 pm Saturday and Sunday evenings.
-Admission to the concerts were by paid ticket only; sold in advance, and on the day of the concerts.
-Tickets were sold on the Sabbath by the local sponsor (a bank) and by the local center for the arts box office. Tickets also were for sale at the door, prior to the concert Saturday evening. Price: $12 adults, $6 students.
-A couple of phone calls indicate that members in the Minnesota Conference are concerned that this blatant breaking of the Sabbath, by a minister of their own denomination, will hurt their efforts to proclaim the three angels' message of which the sanctity of God's law is supreme.
-It is understood that this is not a one-time event as Elder Phipps regularly engages in this type of conduct.
-It is further unknown what effect this will have upon the work of 3ABN as Elder Phipps is perhaps one of the most public figures in all of Seventh-day Adventism.

So, let's take a look.

- Yes, Phipps is a member of the board.
- Yes, he is an ordained minister of the gospel.
- How would this individual know what type of flight Phipps took? Why would it matter if it were commercial or private? To what extent did he go to discover what flight he took?
- Why does the time of the concert matter? Adventist performers do so at all times of the day on Sabbath.

Now, the next few comments have to be weighed against facts that are conveniently left out, so let's review the article from the local newspaper. The question needs to be asked, "Why Fergus Falls?" It just doesn't seem like a place that Pastor Phipps would end up. Here is how he came to be performing in Fergus Falls, MN:

. . . following an invitation from Paul Lindholm, chairman and CEO of Security State Bank, last spring.

Lindholm and his wife, Ruth, were at a conference in Florida in March when they first heard Phipps perform.

"He had such a presence (with) his singing and his narrative that it just kind of gave you shivers and warmed a person's heart," said Lindholm, who got to know Phipps over the course of the conference, an event benefiting the children of prisoners.

"I said to him, 'You need to come to Fergus Falls so our community can hear you sing,' and he said, 'When?'"

So, it was not a performance planned or organized by Phipps - instead it was planned, organized, and underwritten by Paul Lindholm and the Security State Bank. It is very easy to see a connection between Paul Lindholm's desire to have Phipps bless his community with his testimony and Phipps' US Dream Academy. In order to make it even more attractive for Phipps to perform it is likely that Lindholm presented the idea that the proceeds from the concert would go to the Dream Academy. Onc can also point to the fact that Lindholm was attending a conference on the children of prisoners, as was Phipps. Both obviously share a concern on this issue so the donation of the proceeds is a no-brainer.

Then we get into the vague comment about members of the MN conference. Who was called? How was the question presented to them? Were the questions loaded or leading? Where the respondents conditioned by having to listen to a rant prior to be asked how they felt about this situation? SDAm does nothing to clarify or provide credible evidence that the "responses" were in any way legitimate, so one must rightly discount this comment as hearsay.

Next is an accusation that Wintley Phipps "regularly" breaks the Sabbath. It isn't stated that way, however, it is set up by the "points" being made just before it, which are an attempt slander Phipps and cast him in a undesirable light. How about the phrase, "It is understood . . ." by whom?! Accusation with no support. Slanderous commentary/opinion? SDAm could have at least admitted that it his understanding alone.

And finally, the comment about how this will affect his work at 3ABN . . . just ludicrous! The entire thread is designed for one purpose - to cast aspersions on another individual who supports 3ABN. You will notice, they don't think Matthew 18 applies because the "sin" was "public." When ever they want to tear someone down they find a way to make their "wrong-doing" a public event because then their nitpicking minds can justify proclaiming said "sin" in a public forum. The devil is the master at justifying unChristian behavior and these people are taking their lessons to heart and doing their work with the same gusto the serpent had in the tree in Eden.

Another misrepresentation of the facts . . . that, in my mind, places Robert's fingerprints all over it - if it isn't just a second posting ID for Mr. Robert Pickle.

Phipps reported that he worked 40 hours a week for the U.S. Dream Academy in 2006, which makes one wonder when he ever sleeps, since I thought he was a pastor too. And for that 40 hours a week he made $130,000 from U.S. Dream Academy.

For 2006 20% to 25% of the reported total revenue for the organization went for the salaries of the president and vice-president of the organization.

This seems to indicate that Robert has done extensive research into Phipps and his ministry - which would also portend to his digging into every board members personal affairs. Chances are that he didn't just come by this information accidentally or in a casual fashion - he went searching for information in an effort to create a case for attacking Phipps. The same has happened to any denominational employee or leader who has supported 3ABN.

One wonders which board member or church leader will be next.

I think it is wonderful that Pastor Phipps is using his talents for the Lord's work. If he were using his singing talents out in the world, he would be making a lot more money, enough to make what he receives now look like nothing!

But instead he is receiving a salary and using it by traveling to places like Fergus Falls, Minnesota and other places to sing for the Lord. It has become unfortunate that those who stand up for 3ABN, work there or on the board, now seem to find themselves falling under the scrutiny of Pickle and Joy, who are determined to do anything and everything to hurt 3ABN.

They were not successful with all their accusations of financial impropriety (the IRS sure couldn't find anything) so now they must start in on the Board members. Hate to inform Pickle and Joy but the Bible says "all" have sinned. You will find something on everyone. And although it must hurt - you have YOUR share of dirt too. And your "dirt" is obvious every time you open your mouths on these forums. Certainly leaves no room for doubt.

According to many I talked to at ASI, the Pickle/Joy escapades are starting to be just a bad memory. Everyone pretty much, has the same opinion of these men that we do....Their practices are not ethical, biblical, nor does the end justify the means. Of course the IRS clearance was the last nail in the coffin since the PJ team has been talking about unethical financial dealings for months. I talked to one man whom Pickle had called and his story matched up with everyone else's. Pickle just firing accusations but not coming up with any proof of such.

If I had say so about the lawsuit, I would say take them to the mat, along with, Sister, and some of the other's that have slandered and defamed. But, who knows....as the PJ team loses more and more momentum (they are already almost at a standstill) 3abn may choose to let them go. Afterall, no one is believing them anyway.

Well, thanks for bringing this up. I have some additional thoughts to share.

Private air travel on the Sabbath day is somehow not breaking the commandment "Thou shalt not fly on the Sabbath day." Linda was jetting all over the country on the Sabbath and how do I know? because I was at more than one rally where the Sheltons arrived or departing during the Sabbath hours. And sdaminister, if he really is an SDA minister - is working each and every Sabbath as is every other SDA pastor that is doing his job properly. Perhaps we should disfellowship all pastors for regularly breaking the 4th commandment.

Even the party-faithful on the other site have a hard time swallowing SDAministers "regrets" and the topic in general. Instead of sniffing around trying to dig up dirt, let SDAminister rather use the time visiting sick members, studying his Bible more, feeding the hungry (and by this I do not mean feeding the hungering gossip-mongers) - in general doing stuff that makes himself and the world around him better.

I say, let them go after the pair have signed an affidavit stating that they were completely wrong about all the allegations. However, to have them promise not to do it again is pointless, since they don't seem to have the integrity to keep their promises.

Then, with that document, go legally after every other clone site that still publishes this and have it posted prominently.

I believe Pastor Wintley Phipps was mistaken in performing on the Sabbath (if he did). However, he is a member of a Florida church. If Sabbath breaking is to be censured, it would come from his church. Why didn't this so-called sm (who sounds like Pickle in words and methods) call the Florida church to see what they had to say about it?

Unlike the jackals (ok, I expect this word to be edited soon ) I will contact Pastor WP personally to find out what he said.

The title of this thread says a lot. Why the devil is attacking 3ABN in these last days is because 3ABN is spreading the undiluted truth around the whole world. It is the main reason so many support it. The devil will attack anyone and anything who has anything to do with 3ABN so as to prevent the world from hearing and being able to make a choice to accept and live for the Lord. Consider the following from our Lord through Mrs. E.G.White.

"There has ever been a class professing godliness, who, instead of following on to know the truth, make it their religion to seek some fault of character or error of faith in those with whom they do not agree. Such are Satan's right-hand helpers. Accusers of the brethren are not few, and they are always active when God is at work and His servants are rendering Him true homage. The devil has no "grip on 3abn" but he has blinded you Mr. Joy. I feel sorry for you. Because you know the truth but refuse to see it.

The "fruits" show exactly where the devil is working. The Holy Bible makes it clear. This is really sad to see.
